My hotspot turns on but the other device gets nothing
On an iPhone this is almost always one empty field, not a broken eSIM.
- 1Check the travel eSIM is the line carrying mobile data, and that Data Roaming is on for it.
- 2On an iPhone, open Settings → Personal Hotspot → APN.
- 3If that field is empty, type the network name your eSIM page shows for this plan, then turn the hotspot off and on again.
- 4On Android there is nothing to set. If sharing still fails there, it is a different problem.
iOS keeps a separate APN for Personal Hotspot from the one your eSIM already uses. That is why browsing works perfectly on the phone while a tethered laptop or tablet gets no connection at all: the eSIM is fine, and the hotspot is looking somewhere else.
Only a few plans need this, mostly in Japan. If yours is one of them, the value is shown on your eSIM in your account, where you can copy it rather than type it.
Still nothing? Send us your order number and we will check the plan for you.
