The short answer
Nine times out of ten it is one of three things: the eSIM is installed but switched off, data roaming is off for that line, or mobile data is still set to your home SIM. Check those three before anything else.
No service after landing, or data that will not connect. Work down this list before contacting anyone.
Work down this list in order
Each of these takes a few seconds, and they are ordered by how often they turn out to be the problem.
The line is on
- What to look for
- Your SIM settings should show the travel eSIM as enabled, not just installed
Data roaming
- What to look for
- Must be ON for the travel eSIM. This is not the same switch as your home SIM
Mobile data line
- What to look for
- Set to the travel eSIM, not your usual number
Airplane mode
- What to look for
- Toggle it on and off to force the phone to search for a network again
Network selection
- What to look for
- Set to Automatic. A manual choice from a previous trip will not work here
Restart
- What to look for
- Boring, and it genuinely fixes a stubborn activation
If you still have no service
Check whether the plan has actually started. Many travel plans only begin when they first connect abroad, so a plan bought for next week may not have started yet and will show no data.
Check you are in a country the plan covers. Regional plans cover a list, and a country that looks nearby may not be on it.
When to ask us
If you have been through the list and still have nothing, reply to your order email with the country you are in and what the phone shows. That is enough for us to check whether the problem is the plan or the phone, and if the eSIM is genuinely faulty you get your money back.
Common questions
Why does it say No Service when there is clearly coverage?
Usually because the line is installed but not switched on, or the network selection is stuck on a manual choice from a previous trip. Set network selection to Automatic and restart.
Can I reinstall the eSIM if I deleted it?
Usually yes, on the same phone: install it again from your QR code or from the activation details on your order page. It can't be installed on a different phone, so if you've changed phones, contact support before buying another plan.
