Best eSIM for business travel

The short answer

For business travel the best eSIM is one that is working before you leave the aircraft and produces a receipt your finance team accepts. A prepaid travel eSIM costs a fraction of corporate roaming, installs in two minutes, and gives you one fixed invoice instead of a bill that arrives three weeks later.

Best for: Short international trips where you need email, maps and a laptop hotspot from the moment you land.

Plans for teams and companies →

Buy for a whole team at once, with one invoice and a quote for larger volumes.

Where an eSIM is the wrong answer

Honest limits, so you do not buy something that cannot do what you need.

  • If your company already has an international roaming bundle, use it. It will include a phone number and probably calls, which a data-only eSIM does not.
  • Some regulated industries require all traffic through a corporate VPN or approved carrier. Check with your IT team before relying on a personal eSIM for work data.
  • You cannot receive calls or SMS to your work number on a travel eSIM. Keep your normal SIM active for that, with its data switched off.

What to check before you buy

  • Hotspot and tethering, because the laptop matters more than the phone on a work trip. Most of our plans allow it and the plan page says so before you buy.
  • You get a proper VAT-style receipt with a company name on it, not just a card statement line.
  • Delivery is instant, so a trip booked this afternoon is covered this afternoon.
  • Coverage at the airports and business districts you are actually visiting.

How to get it right

Buy several eSIMs in one order for a team

Our cart takes up to ten eSIMs in a single payment, which means one receipt for the whole team instead of ten separate expense claims.

The hotspot is the point

Most business data is used by a laptop, not a phone. Check the plan allows tethering before you buy. On our plans it does, and each plan page states it.

Install it while you still have Wi-Fi

Install in the office or at home, then simply switch it on when you land. Arriving with no signal and a meeting in an hour is the one failure mode worth designing out.

Questions

Can I expense a travel eSIM?

Yes. You get an emailed receipt with the amount, date and plan, and you can buy several eSIMs in one payment so a team trip produces a single receipt.

Can I use a travel eSIM for a laptop hotspot?

On most of our plans, yes, and every plan page says whether that particular plan allows it, so check there rather than assuming. Some providers block tethering on their cheaper plans without saying so.
